Composite gratings

Composite gratings are used as platforms, floors, footbridges staircases and canal covers mainly there, where is request for high resistance against corrosion.
Mainly in chemical, pharmaceutical and food industies.
The advantage of composite gratings are thier low weight, non conductiviy, long-life and color constancy. Their special feature is slowing a flaming.

Composite grating are produced in combination of fiberglass and special resin, whichone are termally cured and casted in special forms to semi-finished products(panels). From this panels are subsequently cutting and forming to gratings parameters according to our customers requirements.

STANDARD TYPES AND MARKING COMPOSITE GRATINGS :

ECO – standard color: steel gray. Recommended operating temperatures -40/+60°C.
The base consists of orthophohalic polyester resin.
It is used for midly corrosive areas, where high chemical resistesce is not required.

ISO – standard color: green RAL 6010. Recommended temperatures -40/+70°C.
Base consists of isophthalic polyester resin for universal use in industrial and chemical industries, where the requiremnt of corrosion resistance is a necessary.
Type ISO-FR (standard) is highly anti-fire resin with controled spreading of smoke.
Type ISO-XFR (only on request) is extraordinary highly anti-fire resin with controled spreading of smoke.

VE – standard color: red RAL 2002. Recommended operating temperatures -40/+85°C.
The base consists from vinyl ester, it is offered as a highly reliable solution for aggressive corrosive enviroments, ranging from corrosive to acidic environments.
Type VE-FR (standard) is highly anti-fire resin with controled spreading of smoke.
Typ VE-XFR (only on request) is extraordinary highly anti-fire resin with controled spreading of smoke.

FEN – standard color: black RAL 9004 – only on request
The base consists from phenolic resin with non flammable componenet, which has high resistance to temperature and fire, low smoke and flue gas toxicity. Therefore, the flame spread is particularly low. For this reason is recommened for closed areas,

PRIMARY PARAMETERS FOR GRATINGS:
MESH PARAMETER :
Composite gratings are making in standard squere meshs.

Mesh 38x38mm is most commonly used.

Mesh 19x19mm is using mainly on requests to prevent overflows object which on are smaller then 15mm E.G. carts with small wheels.

Mesh 50x50mm is using for gratings with height 50mm and mainly for requirements to higher loads platofrms.

Covered gratings we use them, when the full surface of composite gratings are required.
As standard, this covered surface is treated with sandblating.
These gratings are used in the production of manholes, cable trays and manhole cover.
Thickness of panel is 3mm or 5mm, whichone is standardly adapted by sandblasting.

Thickness of gratings:
The loading of the composite gratings depends from his thickness too (height).
The most common : 26mm, 30mm, 38mm, 50mm. (tolerance +-2mm)
Beacouse loading of bearing elements are with similar height in both directions, composite gratings are bearing in both directions of deposit.

Closed sizes of composite gratings:
To achive closed size for mesh for composite gratings we are recommending desing grates according to this table (tolarance +-5mm).

Tolerances:

The following tolerances must be taken into account during the calculation :

For standard panels:

  • Lenght: ± 1 mm
  • Width: ± 1 mm
  • Thickness: ± 2 mm
  • Deformation: <10 mm/m‾¹ (does not aplly to thickness 13 mm and covered gratings)

For panels cutted for required parameters:

  • Lenght: ± 4 mm
  • Width: ± 4 mm
  • Thickness: ± 2 mm
  • Deformation: <10 mm/m‾¹ (does not aplly to thickness 13 mm and covered gratings)

Gratings surface :
We knows three types of surface for composite gratings
concave – the advantage is easy maintenance and high anti-slip suface.
sandblasted – ensures a highly durable and non-slip surface of gratings.
ground(smooth)- This gratings are used how decoration, E.G. fence and raillings

TABLE of ANTI-SLIP according to BGR 181:

Load for composite gratings:

Point loading : value when the grating is point-loaded in the middle and is placed on two sides. Applies to gratings finished with edging.
Evenly distributed load: value when the grating is loaded evenly over the entire surface and is placed on two sides. It also applies to gratings cut between the mesh.
Size of deflection is equal to size of loading.
